Ghana
Ghana lies in West Africa, along
the Gulf of Guinea in the Atlantic Ocean. The country is divided into
ten administrative regions in which several different languages and
dialects are spoken. The climate is tropical and warm all though the
year, with average temperatures ranging between 26 and 29 degrees
celsius.
Religion plays a significant role in the lives of
Ghanaians. Christianity apart, Islam, Buddhism, and Ancestor Worship are
also practiced, and the last mentioned still has a special importance,
particularly in the villages.
A number of important festivals are celebrated through out
the year in Ghana. To the foreign visitor, these highlight the harmony
that exists among the diverse cultural and customary practices of the
various ethnic groups in the country. The most suitable period to
witness some of these is between August and December, when almost every
corner is bustling with the mirth and festivity of a festival.
Entry Regulations and Vaccinations
For your entry to Ghana you require a Visa and a yellow fever
vaccination. You can apply for your visa at the Embassy of Ghana in your
country.
In any case a malaria prophylaxis, and if necessary, a booster of polio
and tetanus are advised. In case of ill health, it is always advisable
to bring medicine for the following illnesses: Diarrhea.
Prices
of flights to Ghana are between EUR 613.55-1.022,58 (NOK 4.800- 8.500) depending on the
period you intend to stay.
Participants
